The 2020 Cadillac CTS is a luxury mid-range car. The 2020 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe has clear steering and agile handling and offers several powerful engine options. This leads to a very rewarding driving experience, especially with the racy CTS-V model and its 640 hp V8. Inside, however, the Cadillac CTS is a mixed bag. Using the touchscreen infotainment system can be frustrating and the cabin materials of the Cadillac 2020 CTS are not as luxurious as many European competitors. In addition, this Cadillac is poorly rated for its predicted reliability.
2020 Cadillac CTS Interior
Inside, the interior of the 2020 CTS includes high-quality decorations such as wood and suede. You can switch from standard synthetic leather upholstery to real leather or premium semi-aniline leather. However, this is not enough in this highly competitive segment: other medium-sized luxury cars have superior materials and overall better build quality.
The front seats are made of plush and offer sufficient comfort for long road trips. There is also good side padding to support you. However, the seats may be a bit narrow compared to some other luxury cars. With numerous seat and steering wheel settings, it’s easy to find a relaxing driving position. The view to the outside is usually good. The accommodations in the second row are not that good. The headroom is a bit tight for larger passengers and the legroom is fine.
The 2020 CTS has two full sets of LATCH child-seat connectors in the second-row outboard seats. There is an additional upper anchor belt anchor for the middle seat. The Road Safety Insurance Institute rates the system with the second-lowest rating from Marginal for its user-friendliness. The lower anchors are in slots in the upholstery and you need to reach into the seat to access them.
2020 Cadillac CTS Engine
The 2020 Cadillac CTS is equipped with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine as standard. It delivers 268 hp, which is fine for a performance-oriented luxury car. Since this drivetrain is a little overwhelming, you should consider one of the optional V6 engines. In the middle of the lineup is a 3.6-liter V6 with 335 hp and a V6 with two turbochargers and 420 hp. Both V6 engines offer good performance for accelerating and driving at high speeds, but the twin-turbo version is significantly more muscular.
All engines are equipped with a nifty eight-speed transmission that shifts seamlessly, although in manual mode it may hesitate to downshift. The main echo of the Cadillac CTS 2020 series is the high-performance CTS-V. It is powered by a charged 6.2-liter V8 that delivers a whopping 640 horsepower. The 2020 CTS-V shoots from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 200 mph.
2020 Cadillac CTS Safety
The 2019 CTS comes standard with rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, and the Teen Driver function, which allows you to set speed and volume limits for secondary drivers. Optional extended safety functions include lane departure warning, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear traffic warning, forward collision warning, follow-up distance display, head-up display, parking camera with all-round view, rear-view camera and automatic parking aid, automatic forward and reverse braking, automatic high beam, adaptive headlights, rain-sensitive Wipers and a safety alarm seat for 2020 Cadillac CTS V.
